I’m not sure I’d have Labs or Khawaja in there. Let them concentrate on longer forms. My 2c…
Edit- I realise now that you were talking about Tests!

Spinner's stunning debut, Marsh magic lead Aussies to crushing win over South Africa

They’ve won the toss and had the best of weather conditions throughout each of the 3 Tests. That fact that we’re (for now) 2-0 up speaks volumes about the quality of our bowling unit and strong performances from Khawaja, Head and Marsh, with one good innings from Smith. I can’t see Warner improving, he needs to be dropped, but Labuschagne and Smith need to pull their collective fingers out.

I will remain positive, but I think we will struggle to contain them with sunny weather forecast for Day 4.

Head's heroic half-ton gives Aussies fighting chance as England quicks make hay in seam-bowling heaven

Marsh often plays 1st drop for WA, but I agree- he is not an opener, certainly not in English conditions. Based on our squad and who’s available, I think we should try this:
Uzzie
Labs
Smith
Head
Marsh
Greene.
Or you could throw Warner down the order for something experimental?

You missed Head. I do also.

I think you are circling around the issue…

SevenTEENth heaven: Warner Broad's bunny again as Smith, Marnus brain fades leave Ashes in Marsh's hands

If he gets another 50/100 in the second innings and saves us, he will be 100% undroppable.

Turning a blind eye to Warner’s woes proving costly for Aussies - as McDonald sticks his head in sand yet again

Yep, Warner’s time should be done. A side thought from your comment- the player who, to me at least, has shown the best hand-eye coordination in this Test is Mitch Marsh, followed by Khawaja & Stokes. He seems to have so much more time than most players!

Or, just maybe, he has matured and learned much better shot selection technique? Don’t be such a negative Nellie! Look at his second innings, playing and leaving very judiciously.

Possibly Hardie, but not yet, and definitely not the other two. Will it take another century in the second innings for you to change your mind, Opeo?

Whether he played red ball cricket or not is really a moot point at this point. The selectors must’ve liked where he was at, the picked him, and he kicked goals. Kudos to him and the selectors.

They do need to man up and drop Warner, though.

Agreed. And Marsh has looked pretty good with the ball as well, enough to say we probably don’t lose anything in the bowling department either. While Greeny has him beat at gully, Marsh is more than serviceable in that spot

I know Marsh is only on his second innings back from extended time out, but people seem to forget that he’s an excellent captain for WA. Well liked by everyone, he could be a great choice.

SevenTEENth heaven: Warner Broad's bunny again as Smith, Marnus brain fades leave Ashes in Marsh's hands

I agree, though I’m not confident that Marnus is in the right headspace to plug that hole. That said, he will probably do better than Warner, who is a walking wicket ATM.

SevenTEENth heaven: Warner Broad's bunny again as Smith, Marnus brain fades leave Ashes in Marsh's hands

I don’t like him, and his Conservative stance goes against my main values. That said, lately I have seen him posing tougher questions to some extremely Woke Leftists, and I actually find myself agreeing with him (occasionally). Parts of society seem to be swinging violently Left or Right lately, with no semblance of balance or nuance. I hate extremism in all it’s forms, be it Left or Right.
However, this is probably not the forum for that discussion! 😂

SevenTEENth heaven: Warner Broad's bunny again as Smith, Marnus brain fades leave Ashes in Marsh's hands

He looks like he’s lacking confidence. His shot selection in the previous UK Ashes was exceptional, however in this series, it’s anything but. Maybe he needs a little break? With Warner, Labuschagne and Smith (bar one innings) continuing to fail regularly, and to rubbish shots, it’s putting massive pressure on Khawaja and the middle order. We expect more, no one is immune to a lapse in form, and no one should be immune to being dropped temporarily as a result.

Yes, 100%.

SevenTEENth heaven: Warner Broad's bunny again as Smith, Marnus brain fades leave Ashes in Marsh's hands

He wasn’t actually all that far out of his crease. It looked plumb to the naked eye and ball-tracking confirmed. Stupid rule, that should be out every time.

SevenTEENth heaven: Warner Broad's bunny again as Smith, Marnus brain fades leave Ashes in Marsh's hands

I do not agree with this rule. I care where the ball is going, not where it hits. Dumb rule.

SevenTEENth heaven: Warner Broad's bunny again as Smith, Marnus brain fades leave Ashes in Marsh's hands

Couldn’t agree more, Sarge!

SevenTEENth heaven: Warner Broad's bunny again as Smith, Marnus brain fades leave Ashes in Marsh's hands

I think the “hitting/impact outside the line” rule is garbage in any game with proper ball tracking. That was out, plain and simple. If Warnie’s Ball of the Century had hit his pad, it would’ve been not out. For me, if the ball is clearly going on to hit the stumps, it should be out. Many may not agree, and that’s ok.

SevenTEENth heaven: Warner Broad's bunny again as Smith, Marnus brain fades leave Ashes in Marsh's hands

I don’t know that the tactic has to stop, Rellum, I think it just needs to be used more judicially. And definitely less to Stokes!

SevenTEENth heaven: Warner Broad's bunny again as Smith, Marnus brain fades leave Ashes in Marsh's hands

One can hope! That would well and truly make him undroppable.

Care to comment about that joke now? 😛
