Semantics .. feel free to keep your head buried in the sand friend

Crows robbery the latest in a long list of failures by Gill's arrogant AFL

No, your initial point was “How was it Port’s fault?”

That is what I responded to.

Crows robbery the latest in a long list of failures by Gill's arrogant AFL

A number of Victorian teams were broke .. as was the VFL itself

The license money was used to prop them up

Wait year or 2 and SANFL (and WAFL) would’ve been in a stronger position to negotiate

Port shafted everyone. What is so hard to understand

No words .. yes its true

So they sat down with 9 other clubs and SANFL Commission and agreed to wait. Then back stabbed the whole lot of them.

And all you can muster is “you can hardly blame them”

The SANFL were not trying to dictate anything. They were trying to negotiate a fair deal.

There was a small window of opportunity to have a genuine and fair national football league. Now we have a bevy of interstate clubs playing in an expanded VFL.

The 2 WA clubs are owned and controlled by the WA Football Commission.
All of GCS, GWS and Sydney are controlled by the AFL.
Adelaide and Port licenses were owned by the SANFL until 2013. In a deal between the clubs, the SANFL and the AFL the clubs bought back their licenses with money funded by the AFL.
As part of the deal, the AFL now controls both of these clubs. There are only 2 member elected board members for each club. All other board members need to be AFL to be approved.
Adelaide is due to get back complete control of the club / board in 2028. This is written into their constitution. It could happen earlier if agreed to by the club and the AFL. Adelaide does need repay the loan and be financially viable as part of the conditions.
Port have no such clause or date at this stage.
Adelaide had to pay $11.3M for its license, Port had to pay $7M

At a meeting with SANFL the clubs all agreed to wait another year or 2 to push for entry. The SANFL and clubs agreed if they waited that they’d be able to negotiate better terms for entry.
Port promptly went behind all their backs a few weeks later and started negotiating directly with the VFL for entry.
This forced the SANFL’s hand and they joined the race to get a team in the competition. From a much weakened position.
You need to remember, at the time the VFL and a number of their clubs were just about on their knees financially.
Port supporters love to say that they were screwed over in this deal. But they never mention their own clubs complicity.

Who is Kane? And what’s her current position?

TOM MORRIS: The AFL's hierarchy is in shambles - and it's nothing less than a failure of governance

Your comment:

“I think that heading is incorrect though”

Pretty sad if your only concern is the semantics of the headline on a 2nd rate sports site

He’s largely playing as a HFF .. he’s had 1 preseason after having a shoulder reconstruction in his first preseason and last year having to manage hip and groin injuries
But yeah, time will tell

Most WC supporters I’ve spoken seem to think it’s Nisbett that needs to go

TOM MORRIS: Adam Simpson is exhausted and the Eagles are a rabble. It's time for an amicable split

In the same round, Shane McAdam was given 3 weeks for his bump on Jacob Weir. Weir also got up and played out the game.

You’d think 3 weeks would be the starting point for DeGoey.

But, AFL chook lotto

Six Points: De Goey response a ridiculous overreaction, Port's perfect half, and the wildest round in years

Weir still had the ball.

3 should be starting the point for Degoey. But, chook lotto
