If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away' [Henry David Thoreau]. I'm a bit of a sports addict, love competition.

fair comment, but I dunno about the Eels. Anyway, the general point was that on paper the Knights were good enough to be there and should shake up the semis a bit.
ANALYSIS: Knights warm up in style as Dom Young takes to the skies with two of the best putdowns of the year
Friday night will be a corker! Now with all the gang back.
Finals Week 1 Teams: Several stars racing the clock to be fit for playoffs, Kris crossed out with lengthy spear tackle ban
2-3 origin level forwards, A couple of others good quality. Halves high standard, international winger with try scoring record, another a beast, 2 origin centres and a top class fb. Yep, they have an outstanding roster.

I clearly remember the Souths East’s score reversal last year so Melbourne not safe regardless. Twill be a bottler.
Round 27 Talking Points: And then there were eight - the key factors that will make or break finals hopes
Cronulla won’t be happy about that…
NRL Week 1 finals match-ups: Playoff fixtures LOCKED IN
Knights have a very good team on paper.
ANALYSIS: Knights warm up in style as Dom Young takes to the skies with two of the best putdowns of the year
1. 2 ‘conferences’ of 9-10 teams with semis of 5 teams, first place gets the week off.
2. Little can be done to maintain interest in the final rounds – other than ensure the comp is always tight and competitive.
3. Cap benefits or draw preferences for top spot.
4. Automatic ‘win of the toss’?
Lack of care factor over NRL minor premiership is embarrassing but almost impossible to solve perennial problem
Hmmm…
1. Better ways to handle a talented player who is out of sorts than dumping them to reggies.
And I disagree that he was ‘a shell’. Looked just not on all cylinders.
2. Lots of noise from around the club at the time about the response from Robbo not being well received. Not just me with that opinion.
ANALYSIS: The worst collapse ever? Souths miss finals as Walker powers Chooks to famous win
They may be a protected species, but if the fans jump up and down enough, and make their displeasure known – politely – at the major home/owner clubs, something is bound to happen.
People on sporting club boards are not so protected and have influence.
Tigers fans protest Pascoe as Manly deal out another thrashing - and even Jurbo scored
Well done Roosters, but not so fast, If Cows and Canberra win, Roosters don’t make it. Mind you, that’s very unlikely so congrats to the Roosters & fans. 👍 😊
As a matter of disclosure, I did tip Souths for the title at the start of the year. Their crash and burn is the equal of Broncos last year. I could be wrong.. and haven’t checked the time line and perhaps someone can answer this for me. Did their demise co-incide with the signing of Wighton? Where it became apparent that the management and even some of the players didn’t have faith in their squad???
As a matter of notice, that’s like 3 out of the last 4 seasons Souths have been in line for the throne only to have LM throw a spanner in the works near the end. He can’t hide from criticism much with that record.
On a totally separate note, I really hope I don’t read stuff about the Walker sacking making the man. From their almost miss it’s obvious he should never have been axed and has been treated poorly. The faster he can find another club, the better for his future.

And club recruitment needs to fight the incoming coach’s need for quick results. Classic case in point, Flanno coming to the Dragoons wants to oust Max Feagai – a junior with family ties to the club – and is chasing Suaalii who may be a better player – but is still just winger with only a 12 month commitment to the club. My opinion is that it’s better long term value to develop and invest in Max.
Bulldogs need more than a few good men but the truth is club's had years to get a handle on mess they created
back home in October. Actually fly back on GF day, poor timing.
Round 27 Team Lists Late Mail: Manu hamstrung, long list of stars resting, Papa's year over, Ponga races clock for finals
well… Manly haven’t been much chop, third string fullback, Harper back in centres and like I said, saw the ‘Dogs team list and it looked like they should. 😛
Round 27 Team Lists Late Mail: Manu hamstrung, long list of stars resting, Papa's year over, Ponga races clock for finals
Mate, no excuses. I got lucky early in the year and luck ran out eg. tipped Dolphins V Tigers, was a good tip for 79 minutes.. 😂 . Plus, and it isn’t really an excuse, but I’m in the USA so I only get to see highlights of each game and not getting a feel for the teams in general and sometimes tip off reputations. EG. tipped South v Newcastle, but maybe not if I’d seen more of the games to get a good feel that Knights were rocking and Souths way off the boil. Tipped Dogs V Manly, both have been going bad but if I’d seen more than highlights could have picked up that Manly were trying in recent games while Dogs were really hopeless… Maybe. Doesn’t matter. Had fun and it’s not over. 😊

surely JWH can’t get away with another fine? That would be about the 5th this year.

Ahhh, thanks..of course, Stoopid me.. Brain fart…
Round 26 judiciary: Waerea-Hargraeves whacked with huge ban, Horsburgh facing suspension, Staggs in strife
The team lists will be interesting as coaches hedge their bets and have about 3 different team options depending on what happens before them.
NRL final round equation: The best and worst outcomes for each team as five teams fight for last three playoff berths
Hudson-Young penalty would be the worst use of the bunker and the whistle this year.
ANALYSIS: Reece Lightning strikes Raiders, Kotoni elbows Rapana and chaos reigns in Canberra
Eels have the bye so they end on 32? (stupid points for the bye system).
So if Canberra lose to Sharks, very possible.
And Cows lose to Penrith, very possible
and South and Roosters draw, unlikely but remotely possible..
Eels are in.?
Round 26 judiciary: Waerea-Hargraeves whacked with huge ban, Horsburgh facing suspension, Staggs in strife
Rapana throws a leg back, penalty, report and bin. Hughes tries to kick the ball out of a guy’s hands, near his head and nothing. It’s not a whinge, just inconsistencies should be expected, refs a r each different so there’ll be slight differences each match.
Round 26 judiciary: Waerea-Hargraeves whacked with huge ban, Horsburgh facing suspension, Staggs in strife
You’re trying hard mate, but that act was indefensible. He’s straight out kicked Sullivan in the face with some intent. Sullivan had eyes for the ball and could have challenged if not for getting kicked in the face a metre and half away from the ball. And yes he had some momentum, because was running at the ball.. Leave it there champ, you’re just digging a bigger hole for yourself.
Plus as an afternote, Feldt does have some form in unsavory on-field acts.
ANALYSIS: Cowboys keep finals hopes alive with Dolphins drubbing - if Karate Kyle stays out of trouble
rewatched it, fair enough.
ANALYSIS: Metcalf limps out as Warriors seal top four - but are they losing steam despite seven game unbeaten streak?
He didn’t touch his leg, Feldt’s leg fair kicked him in the face he wasn’t able to get close to contest the ball. Feldt was almost horizontal and kicked out and shouldn’t be on the field next weekend.

not building a successful club if you have less people taking more of the cap.
NRL News: Bellamy rates Papenhuyzen 'good chance', Robbo's certain Walker will respond, Broncos rule out Pangai reunion
For me, the biggest story that needs a mention is the success of Jamayne Isaako. I would really like one of the fans with research memory to see when was the last time, if any, where a guy has won both try and point scoring record for the year having come from a team not in the 8. Don’t know it’s ever been done before.
Add to that, a guy unwanted by previous clubs. Dally M Revival of the Year award…
