Christy has been covering rugby since 2014 after falling in love with the game in 2010 during a year in England. He was employed at Fox Sports from 2015 and worked at News Corp across two stints. During his time at Fox Sports, he was a prolific newsbreaker and published regularly in The Australian. He also covered the Tokyo Olympics for News Corp. Not shy of setting the agenda, he wants to cover rugby from all angles: from Super Rugby and sevens to the international game.

Apologies.

'It's special': Gordon won't shy away from kicking as Wallabies open up on Gregan's timely RWC advice

First question – and only question I was allowed to ask – when Wallabies squad was officially announced.
He said he wasn’t yet fit. He would be tracking for first game.
Clear to me he didn’t see value in him for this tournament. Why, I’m not sure.

'We've got a few out': Slipper set to miss RWC opener as Eddie opens up on 'fascinating experiment' campaign

It was a good run, but important to remember that four of those five matches were at home and the fifth against Japan. Australia’s record at home against South Africa has historically been superb. That’s not downplaying the Wallabies of that period, but they were also well beaten in three straight matches against the ABs too. Then lost 0-3 on Spring Tour.

Eddie Jones has broken every World Cup convention - it's a high-risk strategy no-one knows will work

Agree with this post.

Eddie Jones has broken every World Cup convention - it's a high-risk strategy no-one knows will work

Wildly off the mark given the side he took over didn’t make it out of the World Cup pool stage and they didn’t win a Six Nations campaign under Lancaster either. Yes England struggled in final two years under him, but still think he was planning for 2023 World Cup campaign and didn’t care about two years in-between.

Eddie Jones has broken every World Cup convention - it's a high-risk strategy no-one knows will work

Probably the latter.

Eddie Jones has broken every World Cup convention - it's a high-risk strategy no-one knows will work

For the record, Rugby Australia don’t pay for anyone to go anywhere with the exception of their rugby.com.au writer. It is quite common in sports like boxing though.

I’ve already written, weeks ago in fact, that sometimes experience can be confused with leadership. Other times, the supposed leadership can be what’s wrong with the squad.

Eddie to resist last-minute Wallabies RWC changes despite injury clouds, Samu opens up on axing

Not quite sure there’s a single “dig” in the story.

Eddie to resist last-minute Wallabies RWC changes despite injury clouds, Samu opens up on axing

Agreed, it was a weird comment. Maybe people have told him there’s a risk in taking the teen. Too young they say. Eddie, in his interesting sense of humour, playing to that.

See other comment ie Waratahs bias. Please.
As for how dropping a pass is worth a mention? It was dropped well short of contact. Simple one. Portugal scored next phase. They scored two tries. I’d have thought that the moment that led to a try, like when Quade dropped White’s pass in Dunedin and the next involvement led to a matchwinning penalty, is worthy of highlighting.

Who caught Eddie's eye? Swinton, Pietsch star in 'underwhelming' Aus A win over RWC rivals Portugal

Sorry my report didn’t reflect the players you wanted highlighted. You might be interested to know that Laurie Fisher spoke to me for a couple of minutes straight away after full-time siren. His player of the match? Swinton. His other standouts? Hanigan and Pietsch. But, yes, it’s a blinded reporter focusing only on Sydney-based players… the propaganda has no end.

Who caught Eddie's eye? Swinton, Pietsch star in 'underwhelming' Aus A win over RWC rivals Portugal

Had it been a World Cup match, almost certainly someone would have been shown a yellow from Portugal during first half. They played the 9 a lot from an offside position.

To be fair, he said he thinks they’re going to “shock a few teams”. He’s not exactly saying they’re going to win the World Cup …

'We're going to shock a lot of teams': Young gun bullish ahead of Wallabies' final pre-RWC Test against France

No PR attempt from RA. Payto and I both requested to speak to him separately.
Payto and I decided to run the story on same day so we don’t burn each other by having one of the stories up a day or two later …

Doubts of a Wallaby: The maligned cross-code star who fought through tears to make Eddie's RWC campaign

Doorstop interview. It’s not necessarily the setting to delve into tactics. Cameras there. Often they’re not. It was a chance for a few news lines. Most of the reporters there weren’t rugby reporters either.

Eddie was right about one thing in epic spray - the Wallabies must stop being reactive and accepting of mediocrity

Well said. At last “The Truth”.

Thank you

Not sure about the fragile egos …

I didn’t report that. Eddie was asked that. He said, “not to be knowledge.” Also, Eddie and Hoops spoke from my knowledge. Hoops has no issue with process.

Thanks for reading.

Important to make clear that Quade was called on Wednesday. I reported on Thursday morning.
