The A-League Men derby between Central Coast Mariners and the Newcastle Jets has been postponed because of torrential rain.
A new match date has yet to be confirmed.
The rainfall gathered intensity in the hour before kick-off at Central Coast Stadium and the pitch was covered in huge areas of water by the scheduled 5pm AEDT start.
Players left the field during the warm-up with lightning in the Gosford area.
The match was initially delayed for 30 minutes but with little hope of a start it was was called off at 5.45pm AEDT.
Both clubs had finalised their starting sides with Mariners coach Nick Montgomery springing a surprise with new Socceroo striker Jason Cummings named on the bench, as was another World Cup aspirant in Garang Kuol.
