agree with this largely but Smith was one of his pet projects. A young talented inexperienced attacking fly half who Jones through in the deep end. And rather then having other experienced fly halves around that can take the pressure off Smith at certain moments in games or series he just left Smith out there. Even as the losses built up and the media and public screamed for blood with every mistake or loss.

I see what’s happened with no Cooper or Hodge in the squad and fear for the worst for Gordon if the wallabies fail.

RWC News: Star claims Eddie was 'like a horny teenager' asking about his sex life, Andy Farrell's epic ABs rant

Eddie has his favourites. There’s no logical reason for who he likes and will overlook anything for, and who he’s off and will hang out to dry for tiny things.

I Wonder what Pete Samu and Len Ikitau said or did.

reds have pretty much only had a handful of good years since super rugby started despite being one of two main states is pretty poor outcome from.

Kiss of death for Thorn's assistants with Wallabies walkout Brad Davis joining Reds revolution

Yep I think there are serious problems with our development. And it feels like we’ve had to recruit more from outside Qld to compensate which we never should have to do.

But only ever hear good things about Carozza. But he’s the only constant I can think of that’s responsible for it.

Yep all the jerseys with collars look great. 😢

More respect to the countries like Japan not changing their jerseys.

This article is too critical of France and England. I think less is more. But sure maybe they both could have used a touch of red.

yep which was surprising as he was apparently a very good attack coach. Reds had no attack other then Tate create something or bash through teams. Only went wide as a last resort.

I reckon big things are coming for the Reds. Way less hype about the new coach compared to when Thorn started. The front office has the organisation profitable and getting lots of gov assistance on top. And the social media account is on fire. Must have a new staff member????

Has anybody asked Eddie Jones why Ikatau wasn’t taken since he will be ready to play either the first or second match?

If you listen to the NZ media every loss NZ have is the end of days for them. But the team just goes on to win more then any other country.

I’d also add that if Eddie truely wanted a “utility” he had the best we’ve had since ACC in Hodge who could also kick goals.

Hodge never got enough credit for his game at 10 when we beat NZ.

Eddie Jones has broken every World Cup convention - it's a high-risk strategy no-one knows will work

But there’s no guarantee the same players will be around next RWC or BIL tour. And if they are and still not deserving of their spot in the squad do we still pick them just because they were in the squad 2 and 4 years ago? Does it magically make them a better player in 2 and 4 years time?

Or do we do the same again and pick more inexperienced or undeserving players so that they might Magically win the next world cup and just keep doing that?

Eddie Jones has broken every World Cup convention - it's a high-risk strategy no-one knows will work

It’s less a out being nostalgic and more the fact it’s completely idiotic to sack the coach on the eve of a world cup without knowing it will actually improve things. And then to sign Eddie Jones completely forgetting about what happened in 2003-04, the Reds and then the last 3 years in England.

And to sign him on a 5 year contract when he has absolutely no track record of long term success despite his short periods of success.

Really not sure if this is satire or not 😂

And that needs to be considered a failure. Not a pass mark because that’s what we now all expect.

Anything less then semi final is a failure especially with the lucky draw we have.

And HM needs to accept responsibility for it.

God I hope I’m wrong and we actually make the final and even win it.

Great article and a topic not talked about enough in the media and gov due to conflicts of interest.

From a Qld perspective, the Gov money spent on Suncorp was worth it and I think the Gabba rebuild will be worth it as well. It has serious issues with things like disability access to the 2nd tier.

But I have a huge problem with professional sports clubs, some publicly listed like the Broncos getting millions in Gov funding for training and admin facilities and god knows what other handouts they get. Lions and Reds also on that gravy train.

I’m a die hard Reds fan but the fact Qld Gov is going to spend millions on Ballymore hosting hockey rather then spending it on permanent facilities for hockey is diabolical. We have Colmslie Hockey centre sitting there able to be upgraded for the Olympics.

Even if it was doing it because we need a viable smaller rectangular stadium to go with Suncorp, Ballymore is terribly located. Perry Park the unofficial home of Brisbane soccer is much better located.

Governments are desperate to fund elite sport - and it's leaving the grassroots to wither

wow that’s incredible if true

Eddie to resist last-minute Wallabies RWC changes despite injury clouds, Samu opens up on axing

I don’t have a problem with SA choosing to do that. They are taking the risk. It may pay off.

But I strongly agree we need to reduce the bench to 5 or 6 players

'Seriously': Ex-Scotland coach calls on World Rugby to 'act' on Springboks after 'abusing bench' against All Blacks

“and I remain adamant that we need to see Nic White starting with Carter Gordon.”

Disagree with you here. Gordon has benefitted from not being partnered with White. White is getting to the rucks slower these days and taking longer to clear the ball. Carter is benefitting from the ball getting out of the ruck quickly where he can take the line on before the defence is moving up quick in his face.

He’s also benefitting from actually getting the ball instead of slow delayed box kicks that are either too short or too long.

Enjoy the opportunity, debutants – I’m not sure how many more there will be as Wallabies enter must-win mode

I’m really surprised about the negativity to Foster. He loses just a few tests over 4 years. I’d kill for that record.

How is losing every match, discarding better players for worse and inexperienced players and carrying on in press conferences being the joke of other sports and countries promoting the game?
