Just because something is the current plan it doesn’t mean it should be stuck to. If it is clearly a bad plan, are they not better off with a new one? It honestly would not surprise me if Tigers are no better under Benji. But a 72 year old who has been out of the game for a decade was a bad option, just as a recently retired player with no coaching experience will likely be a bad option.
It is not necessarily about giving the coach one year to get wins or get out. There needs to be signs that the club will become competitive under their guidance. Sheens/Benji haven’t managed to recruit anyone of note despite having a lot of cap space and haven’t been able to retain the players that were coming off contract. This would indicate that the players, both within and outside the club, don’t believe in the vision being sold. Add in the decline in results since the previous coach was punted and it is clear that the plan was a bad one that should be aborted.

Benji taking reins early as Tigers make cut-throat call on Sheens: 'Suggestions about us knifing Tim are demeaning'

He went a long way backwards with a team that recruited 3 rep players and a 4th former representative. How can you justify giving him more time?

Not sure how I feel. The original decision to punt Madge was bad. Appointing Sheens was worse, so am glad that he is gone. I just have no confidence that a very inexperienced Benji is a better option.

The only issues I had with Klein’s performance was stopping to warn Tedesco. The previous half a dozen infringements should have been the warning and a Rooster binned then. Conversely, were Manly warned? Whilst I don’t think teams have a right to a warning if a warning is deemed appropriate for one side it should be appropriate for the other.
Otherwise the fault is with the players for breaching the rules, not the ref enforcing them.

Fans should get a refund: Refereeing de-Klein shows how far NRL's gone backwards since golden age of officials

I’ve no issue with Cartwright returning serve as a way of standing up for his club and mate.
The rest of this article however is garbage and the author should know better. Although both teams were at the bottom of the ladder a few years ago, they were hardly in the same position as others have stated.
Comments from The Barry, Pomoz and RLFan are spot on.

Who needs a seven-year plan when you have Kevvie? Cartwright rightfully tells Gus to stay in his lane

okay, it is one of the reasons nobody likes them…

NRL week 23 preview talking points: Time's running out for finals dreamers, the game heads west and we celebrate some cheating

Agreed. There is a strong argument that we shouldn’t recognise some of the players records e.g. Smith’s point scoring, given he converted ill gotten trys. The fact that we continue to celebrate all the players achievements shows that the players careers haven’t been tarnished.

Yep, they are right that noboy likes them.
The part that they don’t seem to understand is that nobody likes them because they continue to celebrate or minimise the cheating.

No doubt Bellamey is a great coach but it is Paul Bunn, not Bellamey, that is most responsible for list management.

It’s not rocket science but Bellamy gets it right so often to keep Storm shooting for the top

I can confirm Fifita travelled with the team to Sydney today. Assume nothing in the back spasms rumour.

Maroons player ratings: Bad defensive reads, a stupid penalty, a crop-top jersey all added up to dud night for Queensland

No. Is an honest toiler who will perform his role competently but little upside.

Round 20 Team Lists Late Mail: Teddy takes time off, Foxx hobbled, Oates out, Ivan confident Nathan will be cleared

I agree. I was wondering what was going on, especially to put Cotter there who for all his effort offers little attacking threat.
I have since heard Fifita was having back spasms but can’t find anything confirming the validity of this.

Hes only taken 1 additional player than game 2 and hardly the only club effected, nor the most effected.
Where the complaints in Rd 13 when you played a decimated Cowboys or Rd 16 when Trbo and DCE were missing from the Eagles?
I think Origin has been favourable to the Eels.

Blues Origin III team: Fittler going down swinging the axe as besieged coach chops and changes in bid to save his skin

Agree Best over Staggs. And Tago over the both of them.

Blues Origin III team: Fittler going down swinging the axe as besieged coach chops and changes in bid to save his skin

This seemed like a fun task, and surprisingly difficult given eligibilities. But this is what I came up with.

1. Tedesco (C)
2. J. Tupou
3. Naden
4. Feagai
5. Sloan
6. Rajab
7. Wakeham
8. Nicholls
9. Liddle
10. Brown
11. Okunbor
12. Butcher
13. Stone
14. Crossland
15. Morrin
16. Hetherington
17. Gamble
18. Aitken
19. May

I like Hopgood but would be shocked if he gets more than 5 Origin games, if any.
Nothing against him, just unlucky to be behind the likes of Carrigan (Qld’s next captain imo), Cotter, Horsburgh and Tino.

Blues Origin III team: Fittler going down swinging the axe as besieged coach chops and changes in bid to save his skin

I agree, but is he the NSW player best suited to this role? I don’t believe so.
Yes is one of my favourite players to watch at club level, one of my least favourite to watch in Origin.

Blues Origin III team: Fittler going down swinging the axe as besieged coach chops and changes in bid to save his skin

I pretty much agree. I think there is a chance they will come out post origin a more mature and confident team, I’m just not confident of it. But, that is why I haven’t written them off yet.

What are the KPIs for a premiership-winning team? It adds up to only four clubs a hope of winning 2023 NRL title

Like the last couple seasons I feel it is a 2 horse race between Panthers and South’s. Broncos the only team I haven’t put a line through, yet.

No it is not. He is still receiving his salary. In Brown’s case he will continue to do so for the next 8 years if he is not found guilty. If he didn’t already have a contract he would still be able to negotiate a future contract despite being currently stood down. In fact both JDB and Manase Fainu did just that. So his career is not in jeopardy.

Why NRL should revisit no fault stand-down policy in the wake of Brown allegations

But you were dominating because of the ruck infringements. The fact 7 of the 8 came on zero or first tackle shows it was a deliberate tactic. Sutton allowed this to continue by not binning a player much earlier.

ANALYSIS: Collapsing Canberra sneak by Tigers in madcap ending - as both coaches fume at officials

2. The 2nd knock on determines the restart. One knock on, play the ball zero tackle. 2 knock ones scrum.
3. Time is not called off during the penalty (until a certain amount of the has elapsed, i think 40sec can’t remember). Should have been called off after the conversion but.

I would also like to know 1 and 4

It was because Johns played 9 in defence, with him in the middle and Toovey in the halfbacks spot 3 in.

NSW’s Origin warriors: Most capped Blues by position

Rohan Smith is the guy id be chasing. If unavailable I’d then look at Morris
Seems as though Ryles is a done deal anyhow.

Dragon the team back up the ladder: Rating the coaching contenders for tough St George Illawarra mission

Only one team has won after a 5 day turn around this year, when not playing another team off a 5 day turn around. But whether that is to do with the preparation or not you can decide.

5 day turn arounds is year:
Rd 2 Souths lost away to Penrith.
Rd 3 Knights lost home to Dolphins
Rd 4 Tigers lost away to Storm
Rd 5 Raiders lost home to Penrith
Rd 6 Dogs lost home to Souths
Rd 6 Cowboys lost home to Dolphins
Rd 8 Penrith lost away to Souths
Rd 8 Eels lost home to Broncos
Rd 9 Sharks won at home over Cowboys who also had a 5 day turn around.
Rd 9 Warriors lost home to Roosters who also had a 5 day turn around.
Rd 9 Dragons lost home to Dogs
Rd 10 Dogs lost home to Raiders
Rd 11 Storm won at home over Broncos
Rd 11 Roosters lost away to Panthers
