Honestly Jacko, with all this talk of a global season it won’t be the Northern Hemisphere and South Africa shifting to our winter. I’m not happy about it but I can see it happening. Super Rugby beginning in September/October and ending in June wouldn’t surprise me at all.
RWC News: 'Losing three biggest academies' - Eddie's truth bomb for ABs, Poms' 'horrendous' fear
I’ll make it part of the Golden Generations series, that’s my PHD 😂
RWC News: 'Losing three biggest academies' - Eddie's truth bomb for ABs, Poms' 'horrendous' fear
Well it might have been a good idea to select a couple of the available top notch kickers in the squad of 33. Goal kicking tends to be pretty important in World Cups 😁
RWC News: French rocked by another injury, Eddie whacks Poms and says Wallabies have one big advantage
It’s not the second best PK. In the early to mid 90s England were RWC runners up and won four out of six Five Nations including three slams. Jones only won three in seven, with one slam.
And I’d hardly say that comparing now to the pre RWC era is relevant.
If you recall Eddie’s press conference yesterday, or my article below, world cup cycles are part of much longer generational cycles. Eddie had England at the peak of the cycle for the world cup they’d been targeting since 2012, with the benefit of unprecedented success in world age group tournaments. The previous peaks were twelve years earlier 2003/2007 when they did much better than Eddie and twelve years before that 1991 which we’ve just talked about. So compared to the comparable periods in English history no, he was not outstanding.

Maybe sometime after the world cup or even next year!

Yes the English backs especially were making basic errors they’d very rarely make for their clubs

I suspect that they’re planning for the global season, with the Rugby Championship at the same time as the Six Nations and Super Rugby the same time as the URC/Heineken.

Galthie also did a fantastic job of bringing through new players early in his stint, while England were – and still are – sticking with players from even the Martin Johnson era.

Obviously Borthwick is bad but two wrongs don’t make a right! Google Eddie Jones culture of fear.
Eddie did quite well in the first four years but he wasn’t outstanding. Like 2003/07 and 1991 England was at the top of their generational cycle in 2019 thanks to Lancaster bringing through so many players from the many World Under 20 winners and finalists 2011-14. (England were also first three times and second three times 2013-18.)
He didn’t do as well as 2003-7 and was on a par with 1991. So outstanding is too generous. An then he left an absolute basket case in his second stint.

Oh definitely – see the “it’s not all Eddie’s fault” section of this article I posted six weeks ago

I’m talking about the rugby, not the English and maths 😂
With no NPC, there would be nothing to stop a 22 round Super Rugby Pacific with finals.

Thanks mate! I was also surprised that they used the illegal delay in bringing down the jumper now instead of in the quarters.

It’s 2000 paying supporters at the ground. Which is still pretty bad.

Only two of the current Samoa squad rely on grandparents, the rest it’s parents.

Yes it certainly needs to be talked about! It needs its own article really.
I don’t think that watching NPC matches is a big thing any more with crowds very low. What I’ve not seen though in the media is the plan to develop players from club/school to Super. Each franchise will need a well resourced plan to find players around their patch because so many come through the NPC each year. And Leinster especially has great links with the schools.
NZR also needs to take control of high school rugby from the glory hunting head teachers because we’re losing far too many teenagers from the game.

He had two months to get fit and in form though. Very much like Dan Carter in 2015.

Yes – as I said too many excuses. The clean out on Cole’s head and the delays in bringing the jumper down were ref errors in any jurisdiction though.
Echo chamber is the right phrase.

Semifinal I think but yes, what a moment. Shelford didn’t tend to start these things, but he knew how to finish them!
