The tournament will be held across nine different cities in France, and while there are still eight teams left to qualify, the pool drawn has already been held. To see the qualification criteria for the remaining sides, head over to our Rugby World Cup draw and fixtures page.
Five teams play in each of the four pools, with the top two teams in each group progressing to the knockout stage of the tournament. The third-ranked side will earn immediate qualification for the 2027 World Cup.

Teams are awarded points based on their performances in the group stage matches. A victory is worth four points, a draw is worth two and a loss is worth zero.
Teams can also be awarded a bonus point for losing a match by seven points or fewer, or for scoring four or more tries in a match. It is possible to be awarded both bonus points for the same game.
In the event of two teams finishing with the same number of points, the team that won the head-to-head match will be ranked higher. If they tied, for-and-against will be used as the tiebreaker.
