RA needs to fix the male version first before worrying about the female aspect of the sport. With SR/SRP a long-term lame duck, they need to make the male professional level profitable first with the hard decisions to be made that the other codes and sports have made.

They haven’t really worked on the premise of being pure rep teams for 20+ years now. They’re now soulless entities in a soulless league that is driving their own fans away.

Nah, you’d have to base it out of Canberra (which is a big city, and has a first class & test venue in Manuka Oval), and then play the old game in Wagga Wagga, Albury etc. I’d probably leave the Gong with NSW (Sydney), but it could possibly work?

It’s probably high time a 7th Shield side was established as either ACT/Southern NSW or maybe Northern NSW (based out of Newcastle).

Yet you love SR/SRP; with several franchises that simply can’t compete because of the lack of open recruiting.
Players should be allowed to pursue opportunities. It’s up to the clubs to provide a great environment for the player to thrive, and the team to potentially have success.

Always thought Marnus could’ve been promoted to open for a couple of years.

It doesn’t work with NZ purely on the basis that they insist on the dire SR model: protectionsim, amateur era mandates, no open recruitment etc. It clearly needs to transition into a PROPER(!) professional league such as AFL, NRL etc, otherwise it will never succeed financially.
The other footy codes made the hard decisions a long time ago to ensure future financial success and increased revenue through growing fanbases and viewers in exciting and dynamic pro competitions.

Yeah, felt the ref certainly let the poms get away with too many cynical and dirty fouls early, and a few more should’ve had yellows. Same with some cynical timewasting tactics in the last half hour of the game.

Yeah, Polkinghorne didn’t inspire confidence. Australia didn’t have the depth to match England.

Which is probably a reason that in general (history of the men’s world cups, Champion’s league etc) that a lot of the same teams/nations keep winning: squad depth that a lot of teams/nations can’t match.
