Haha, feel much better now JN.

We grew up in the 40’s and 50’s being told by our parents that the best team to ever leave NZ was the 1937 Springboks and I’ve never forgotten that … Danie Craven.

In ’56, the country was totally stressed out that the Springboks might beat the ABs after taking us to the cleaners in 1949 and beating us at home in 1937.

in the early 90’s I had dinner with Fred Allen, captain of the ’49 All Blacks and we talked rugby all night, but to my regret I never raised the ’49 tour with him because I was pre-informed it was a touchy subject with him.

RWC News: Star claims Eddie was 'like a horny teenager' asking about his sex life, Andy Farrell's epic ABs rant

“South Africa trounced Wales 52-16 in Cardiff, then scored a 35-7 victory over New Zealand at Twickenham, a record winning margin in 105 Tests against their greatest rivals.”

This can be read a couple of ways when discussing the ABs v Springboks. Yes, it’s the biggest margin for the Boks against the ABs but not the biggest margin in a long history of matches.

So, to clarify, a winning margin of 28 is the biggest winning margin for the Boks in beating the ABs.

On the other hand, the ABs have beaten the Boks with bigger margins, In 2003, 52-16 (margin 36), in 2011, 40-7 (margin 33), in 2017, 57-0 (margin 57) and in 1999 the same at 28-0, (margin 28), and 2016, 41-13 (margin 28).

Don’t want to discredit the Boks in any way, they are our biggest and most feared competitor, but want to keep history clear.

Interesting CW.

Experience counts for a lot, as does, in my opinion, tradition to deal with these big occasions. I’m with you on Ireland. They’ve got experience but will the big occasion knock them over. The ABs have experience and tradition and they’ve delivered on the big days previously but … will they this time? France haven’t delivered on the big day in the past so like the man with the barrow, they’ve got the job in front of them.

I personally think it’s between the ABs and Springboks. Both teams know how to do it. They’ve both done it before.

Christy’s over in France so he would have known this. But he must have forgotten to tell us.

Hooper set for Paris sign-off: Wallabies great poised for new RA deal ahead of Olympic farewell

You beat me to it cs …

“In an awkward twist, Hooper is still a prominent face at the Rugby World Cup, with organisers among the many caught out by Jones’ shock call; they put Hooper on the cover of the official tournament guide, as one of the world’s top five players”

Hooper set for Paris sign-off: Wallabies great poised for new RA deal ahead of Olympic farewell

Oh, I just saw this …
“Our rugby editor, Christy Doran was on the ground at Stade Roger Baudras for the Wallabies opening training session, attracting a huge crowd!”
Now, of course, I’m wondering what’s Christy done that he would attract a large crowd in France. Then I thought yes, maybe they’re looking to get some inside oil from Christy on what’s going on with the WBs before their potential clash with France, and perhaps also get his autograph.

He will want to talk about anything else he can come up with, to show us how knowledgeable he is. It’s such a pity he’s the WBs Head Coach, it was such an inappropriate appointment.

He could have done a great job if they had found e suitable spot for him in marketing or development or both. It’s just that as HC we’ve seen it all before.

RWC News: 'Losing three biggest academies' - Eddie's truth bomb for ABs, Poms' 'horrendous' fear

Yes, I agree JD. Like JN I’m not too impressed with the Wilson/Kirwan carry on. I suppose they think it’s entertainment, but to me it’s a turn off.

But yes, t’s an overreaction to put Wilson’s comments in the “arrogant” pocket, to me the message was more “it’s not all lost” as you say. The Boks were ready, the ABs weren’t.

I’m picking ABs for the RWC. Icing on the cake is that Steve Hansen has inside oil on the WBs to feed to Fozzie. 😂

Fair enough scrum. We hope it works out for the team.

Gary, it’s called being realistic. A number of us are thinking the WBs would be doing far better with last year’s coaching team.

HL is it reasonable to say the ABs were overconfident and underestimated the Boks?

It seems our boys weren’t ready to take on the Boks, while the Boks were ready to take on the ABs. Most of the ABs hadn’t played for a month and it showed while the Boks had been playing warmup games (and it showed).

And a comforting thought Geoff is that Harry said he thought the ABs would win the WC.

We just need to be patient and let what will be, will be.

I just hope cards don’t influence games once the WC starts. And wins are achieved on the merits, 15 v 15.

Well, in trying to find some positives for Kiwi supporters out of not much, the best I could come up with is it’s 1-1 between the ABs and the Boks this year. The ABs won when they had played recent matches, and the Boks hadn’t; the Boks won when they had played recent matches, and the ABs hadn’t.

Once again cards played an overly significant role in the result. You’ve gotta wonder at a team yellow being included as one of 2 yellows to make a red.

I’m one of those who concluded even before the concept of red and yellow cards was introduced that rugby is a game where on field 15 plays 15.

It’s really up to WR to come up with a solution with the cards problem. I keep thinking back to the days when we were Kings; high tackles were never a thing then. It’s only an accumulation of law changes by WR that brought them into the game. Now we need an accumulation of law changes from WR to take them out of the game.

WORLD VIEW: All Blacks suffer 'grisly' fate, 'pummelled into submission,' as stunning Boks deliver a 'monstering'

Yes, I noticed that too. It’s a bit like Suliasi Vunivalu becoming delicious fruit. If he could perhaps get a meat pie or two that would be helpful. Christy’s getting us all excited at all the various possibilities. Some of the WBs are genuine talents so let’s see how tomorrow goes.

But I’m just hoping the boys can hold their own given their huge inexperience and the lack of games together and taking on France at home will be a challenge.

I wonder if Steve Hansen’s staying for this game, or going to Twickenham for the ABs v Springboks, or taking both in. Hope his visit to the WBs camp helped bring confidence to the boys
