Thanks Christy. Hoops would offer 7s plenty if they are looking for a breakdown presences like a Kawagga Smith. On another note regarding other omitted WB, I hear Lenny is ready to play now. Can you confirm this Christy? Ikitau is one of only two world class players we have and Eddie left him out! I’m surprised not more has been made of this omission considering the WB are carrying injured backs who have yet to prove themselves at SRP yet alone Test Level like Lenny and are not certain to even play at the RWC. I’m just hoping we don’t lose guys like Lenny O/S because of Eddie’s poor selections and idiosyncrasies as that just weakens our depth.

Was Ben there for the last FRA game which should be the team sheet for RWC?

Thanks for your work John. We need content and discussion and appreciate your efforts. Not meant to be critical but offer a view like everyone else 👍

Top 10 playmakers at Rugby World Cup - and why the Wallabies' young gun has the game's toughest gig

Thanks for the mention of CG John but perhaps not just yet in the Top 10. I get many just want this kid to work out desperately right now for WB’s sake and I’m sure he will come good in time with more years of hard work and good fortune. But the #1 and #2 fly halves of the top 10 nations, bar Carter and Ben, would occupy the top 10 to 15 spots at fly half based on core skills, ability & results. Ben is well outside the top 20.

Not quite all are rejected players these days. Some have made Brums and other clubs their first choice.

Kiss of death for Thorn's assistants with Wallabies walkout Brad Davis joining Reds revolution

Olly you’re right about regional QLD but I also think there’s plenty of talent already at Hospital Cup comp. I think Reds and Tahs have this waif of arrogance like some birthright to be the top dogs because they’ve been around for 100yrs. Brums on the other hand were born the poor cousins and since their humble beginnings have fought their way through & forever trying to out do their bigger cousins. We were also lucky to start with coaches like McQueen and Lordy too, but one makes their own luck. Stay humble Brums as I didn’t like that talk from the CEO about the Tahs rivalry being dead.

PS good points but that example works both ways. What’s CG test record and what’s CG’s SR record? Pre-Achilles QC v2 got us to #3 starting with that long midfield kick for goal to get us the win at the siren after White won that penalty. QC v2 was a very different player, don’t you think?

'It's special': Gordon won't shy away from kicking as Wallabies open up on Gregan's timely RWC advice

SC I do see the point you’re making however 10s need to kick and kick well as that is their core skill. It’s not just the kick for goal but kicking in the mid field and kick for touch which he’s been missing too. It’s a breakthrough season I agree but it’s his first year. He should be the third 10 as there’s so much more to learn. This season too was TW’s first at 15 and he was the standout (most meters gained in SRP) there until Eddie came along.

RWC News: French rocked by another injury, Eddie whacks Poms and says Wallabies have one big advantage

I’d be okay with Eddie if he was brought in for this World Cup to spark the team. But I can’t recall Ed actually building a system or framework for success like Nucifora. Giving Eddie 5yrs is mainly what I have reservations with, plus some selections but hey debate with any coach & their picks is commonplace.

RWC News: French rocked by another injury, Eddie whacks Poms and says Wallabies have one big advantage

Yeah PK, you do if Jorgo has taken his spot. He’s injured and prone to his own mistakes as 18yr would be. With that thinking on Wright you’d would then be open to benching CG who can’t kick to the side of a barn and bring QC back in to start and drop Donaldson who’s lucky to be there? Also add Tate who still doesn’t have a test level kick or pass on him after several years at WB and bring in Lonergan who has those skills in spades. Let’s not pretend that Tom is the only player with work ons. Tate and CG deficiencies directly contribute to test losses because of the pressure it puts back on the team on a more regular basis, but if you have patience for those two then why not Tom? Brum bias/hate perhaps…

😂 I wonder what would happen if there were no salary caps. Forrest would need that to become best club in the world.

'One of the best contracts I've signed': Super Rugby surprise as Force cut ties with CEO

For WB I was thinking of Wright in particular. It was not the same guy who tore it up for the Brums and even DR in the last Spring Tour. Wright got chucked into 15 by DR due to injuries but he did his job. Yes there were mistakes there being new to 15 but Tom did well enough that it was a catalyst to move him to 15 permanently for Brums.

RWC News: French rocked by another injury, Eddie whacks Poms and says Wallabies have one big advantage

People don’t hate Ed for his results. It’s Eddie’s arrogance and the way he treats people. He’s a divisive character.

RWC News: French rocked by another injury, Eddie whacks Poms and says Wallabies have one big advantage

JD. That was a good article. I was laughing at Ed’s antics in ENG but quickly felt sorry for the WB on what was to come & sadly it has come to fruition. Eddie coaching from a point of fear has some players actually performing worse.

RWC News: French rocked by another injury, Eddie whacks Poms and says Wallabies have one big advantage

QED with in context of the question I agree too that Poey would be #1. If asked who was our best ever WB produced I’d go with Smith. Deans should have fought to keep Georgie in AUS for another RWC cycle. Retired from WB way to soon.

Greatest XV: 'Best player I've seen' - Australia's magnificent 7, despised by All Blacks and cherished by Eddie

Eddie, the players and coaches were there for RFU but you’ve just chosen to chew them up and spit them out like a petulant child. Eddie, have a look in the mirror mate. When you point your finger mate there are four pointing back at you mate. It’s your own fault mate that you screwed up that ENG team mate…Marcus Smith will recover from your manic demeanour mate and so will Noah as they are younger and can quickly improve mate. But mate, Eddie you’re the one at the end of your career mate and seemed to have peaked two years ago mate…

RWC News: French rocked by another injury, Eddie whacks Poms and says Wallabies have one big advantage

PS, Doesn’t “long term loser syndrome” start from somewhere? 0-5 isn’t a great way to build up young minds despite what they are saying to the media, which can be entirely different to their private thoughts. If you’re referring to a player like QC then why do giant clubs in Europe and Japan recruit and pay him millions? I thought only winners get that kind of recruitment and dosh thrown at them.

'It's special': Gordon won't shy away from kicking as Wallabies open up on Gregan's timely RWC advice

WB don’t have the same Bok quality at line out and throwing is the issue; and we have a non-existent rolling maul.

'It's special': Gordon won't shy away from kicking as Wallabies open up on Gregan's timely RWC advice

😂 Thats because NSW and QLD absolutely suck at developing and retaining talent. There is a reason why talent across the country come to the Brums and that’s to get better! As with the Brums locals we’ll just start with Gregan, Bernie and Roff and go from there… 👍 Just because you’re a school boy stsr doesn’t mean you’ll be a pro. Brums are awesome at turning kids into pros and that’s the third thing they are good at.

Kiss of death for Thorn's assistants with Wallabies walkout Brad Davis joining Reds revolution

Interesting as Brums are the fifth lowest. Perhaps to be considered is what oppositions do with Brums penalties conceded versus what the Brums do with penalties received; and at what part of the field.

Flair with Functionality: The Wallabies can find inspiration in a French kicking masterclass

I have the Brums at 153 penalties for the season. The lowest of the top 4. Chiefs were 176. Do you have a different figure? Only the Canes, Highlanders, Rebs & Moana had less in the mid 140s

SB, your pt1 is huge and I believe our woes & pressure put on ourselves starts from there. Too much change and too complex perhaps, like Gray’s defensive patterns. Interestingly Brums were one of the least penalised teams this season, had a low possession game but were one of the highest try scorers. A look into what worked for Bernie and Lordy would makes sense and I think WB can definitely improve in these areas but for this RWC I’m not sure. I think it’s the Brums kickers & effective chop tackles that brings in the pilfer or slowing the defensive ruck. The pressure goes back on the opposition. We had White, Lonergan, Noah and Wright kicking and they were quite a handy quartet. The return kicks kept going back to Wright and he chewed up the meters to lead the whole comp. Also the Brums scrum & set pieces were on point too as winning rugby kinda starts and ends right there. Definitely all doable for AUS players and that transfers pressure which should also cut down mistakes and penalties.

This is another technical and insightful article FM. Keep at it.

Lenny is one of our only two world class players. Losing him at 13, particularly in defence makes him irreplaceable. Unless Lenny is unpicked which then puts him in the same basket as other Brums like Pete. Crazy if that’s the case!
