As I’ve mentioned here today, all SS/HC players should tick a box when they register for their club indicating that they actually want to make the step up to higher levels, not all players aspire to this.

That SS & HC rep side is a great idea, not only for players but for coaching, medical & support staff as well.

Have all teams play on the same day, that would draw in a crown and also give the younger players a real taste for the next level. Also, at grounds like Brooky Oval, Rat Park, Liechart Oval etc…

The biggest issue with the NSW teams participation in the last NRC was centered around the fact that the Tahs had already finalised their squad for the next year before the NRC had kicked off, so anyone playing from a SS club had no real opportunity of advancing into the Tahs.

I genuinely believe that SS players need to have an opportunity to move up to SR and playing in one of these two teams should be used as this stepping stone.

Like it or not, while Lord was defense coach of the Oz A side they let in four tries to Tonga in forty minutes, pot calling kettle black IMHO!

Late reply, so apologies.

Fanciful, why? The sports marketing “market” here in Australia is saturated; we have a reasonably lousy stain on our sport due to all the infighting etc…

Selling a club to a company would be such a hard sell; maybe if it were aligned with a Japanese company, it would be easier as they have already set a precedent, but…

Running it would be a different story altogether again.

I do like you ideas, I think it would take an army to get it off the ground.

Played mainly @ 12 for Manly & has a great winning record in that position for them, we would have won the GF a few years ago had he not been called up for higher honors that week.

Simon, with all due respect, have you ever tried to sell sponsorship for a rugby team? I have, and at junior and senior club levels, let me tell you, it’s not easy to do, so expecting corporations to buy a club rugby team would be almost impossible, I love the idea, but I think it’s fancyfull at best.

Why not get Twiggy or RA to revive the GRR or Indo Pacific Cup and chuck our SR teams into that? Quick fix that does not involve wrecking CR.

I commented about that, the main issue for Matt is that he would not want to be put through the competitive interview process, this is why he didn’t “officially” apply last time, even though he had John Coats blessing to leave the AOC.

Eddie’s already telegraphed that we won’t be playing possession based rugby, tactical kicking & three phase play for the score will be our go this year I think.

Coleman’s coached all over the world, won two Shute Shields & the MLR, I’d say that’s a pretty good resume vs Cron, who I also think is an excellent coach, but has yet to win anything.
