I just watched the Shute Shield Final and from what I picked up in the commentary the props from both teams are all from the UK. Is there that big of a dearth of front rowers here in Australia? I’m also wondering about the development of players here in Australia. Lots of talk about developing the next tier, but if our supposed best clubs in Sydney aren’t even playing Aussies, what’s the point? Talk about shooting ourselves in the foot.

'It's panned out well': Incredible story of how Eddie's RWC bolter went from teaching to the Wallabies in 12 months

I’m exactly the same Cam. At the moment the ARU is giving all of the other codes a free pass with Super Rugby finishing so early. If there’s no other rugby to watch that we aren’t aligned to what are we going to watch? Thankfully The Ashes and Matilda’s games have kept me entertained. I’ve nearly been tempted to watch NRL.

Extending the SRAU without the Wallabies players exposes the next tier of players to a higher level, does it not? Isn’t that the main objective? They could even change the rules and make the games a larger squad and mandate that each player can only play a maximum of 60 minutes? As you say Cam, it doesn’t feel that difficult. But I’m not going to be terribly excited in watching Wests Brisbane play Randwick with 3 or 4 Super Rugby players in each team.

Why RA CEO is leaning into 'beating heart' of club rugby in third tier plan as crunch talks loom

I’m a Quade fan from the get-go, but throwing his toys out of the cot when not selected in the 1stXV is basically the end of his international career. Interesting that Daugunu has been included as a centre. He played well there for the Reds in the few games before getting injured.

Davey Warner’s getting his, so only fair that Hoops does too. Sometimes life just isn’t fair

Geoff, who would be in your 33?

The Wrap: Is Eddie Jones playing the role of Keyser Soze or Frank Drebin?

I think making Skelton Captain will be the making of him – it’ll motivate him like nothing else. He won’t want to be seen slacking off, so he’ll go even harder. I admit it’s an out there decision, but it could well prove to be genius.

Jorgensen has class written all over him, I don’t have any issues in taking him. I agree with you about Suli and Donaldson though – perplexing. I’d happily see Josh Canham on the plane – I don’t think it will be long before he’s in the green and gold.

The Reds should definitely have Greg Holmes there even if it is just to run a free diving group to improve their lung capacity.

It was an amazing series – I haven’t been so captivated by a series for a long time, and the World Test Championship as a prelude was also fantastic. Both teams should be applauded for some amazing cricket. The rest of the stuff – early declarations, Bairstow stumping, Long Room shenanigans, injuries, Piers Morgan et al just added to the theatre and made it even more entertaining. Long may these rivalries live on. It’s just a shame a few other nations aren’t more competitive so that we get this cricket more often. Long live Test cricket. I’m looking forward to seeing how the Poms go when they come back here to Oz, both teams likely to have considerably different line ups, but I think we all kinda know how it will play out (moral, hypothetical and reality). I’d love to see Lance Morris reincarnating Mitchell Johnson for the first ball at the Gabba – salubrious!! Maybe they’ll have Joffra Archer back fit again. The new Barmy Army songs will be interesting. So many what-ifs – you can make up so many different scenarios which is kinda what the pommy press are doing right now. But guess what guys, Australia STILL has the Ashes and we are playing to the rules that you made up 😂 😂 😂 and you have to play us on our home turf next to try and win it back, so your misery is going to go on for a lot longer yet 👍

Setback that could cruel Wallabies' RWC hopes - but all hope not lost if Eddie sticks with Gen Next

They’d have been better off offering Ethan de Groot the money they’re giving to Suli and Suaalii before he represented NZ. The guy was born in Australia. But we should definitely be offering big money to our big boys rather than wingers. There’s far less talented props around than outside backs.

It could finish 2-2 and imagine the UK media then 😱

What’s Piers got to say?

They couldn't... could they? Khawaja-Warner century stand on rained-out fourth day gives Aussies a chance

I’m way more comfortable with the current scenario than if it was the Poms batting last – Bazballing us at 5+ an over on a flat pitch. Smart of Pat to lose all the previous tosses, but even smarter to win this one and bowl first.

Sssshhhhh!!!! 👎

They couldn't... could they? Khawaja-Warner century stand on rained-out fourth day gives Aussies a chance

I’m pretty sure that Australia chose to bowl first because they thought it was more conducive for bowling earlier and batting last – which is how it’s playing out.

They couldn't... could they? Khawaja-Warner century stand on rained-out fourth day gives Aussies a chance

I don’t have an issue with the pitches because at the end of the day they’ve delivered a scintillating series that has made it such a good spectacle. I think the Poms have done themselves a disservice by preparing such flat tracks. If Anderson and Broad and Co were seaming the ball around like in past series I don’t think we would have done as well. India are the ones that really should hang their heads low with the ridiculous pitches they prepare – definitely no spirit of cricket there, but we already knew that – just ask Andrew Symonds.

Cathy Freeman’s Gold and Kieran Perkins win in 1996 are two standout Olympics moments for me

If I was Tate I would have kicked the forwards in the nuts for that

Studs and duds: 'Can't do that in Tests' - Tate flaw exposed, Hooper divides opinion, 'absolutely incredible' Angus

UK View: 'Worst I've seen Australia bat' - 'Snail-like' tourists' go-slow savaged as Bumble claims Smith was run out

Yes Scyld Berry (whoever you may be), Khawaja has been batting terribly the whole series, nothing like the top run scorer of the series who is ….. ummm, what??? Surely that can’t be right?

We were lucky the drongos declared in the 1st Test and lucky they didn’t in the 4th

If you don't worship Bazball then you know nothing about cricket - just ask anyone from England's deluded cult

* His nickname is Rat, given to him by some girl in a pub, and he hates it
* He thinks the Wallabies are playing too one dimensional with too many one-off forwards hit ups too close to the ruck and not releasing our outside backs
* He thinks Aussie rugby is neglecting the development of our younger players particularly in comparison to NRL who are teaching players how to be professional
* Big fan of Les Kiss having worked with him at the Waratahs – called him a super human
* He thinks Payne Hass would be a great cross-over playing in the back row
* He would prefer to see more work put into junior recruitment and retaining kids already playing rugby
* He has a management business looking after the Levi sisters and Sharni Williams
* He says Rugby should put a bit of money in front of the kids to keep them in rugby – doesn’t have to be a lot, but enough to show them that they are valued so they don’t go looking at NRL
* Rugby and NRL are both competing for the same talent, but NRL are doing a better job of it

Golden Generations: How Australian rugby rose from obscurity to greatness, then killed green and golden goose

I’ve always thought that we should be targetting the kids with Props, Hookers and Locks body types in the southern states that aren’t necessarily suited for the big mileage that AFL requires.
