Really good player who gave all in the gold and green.

That whole team was something else actually; arguably the best Wallaby team.

Thanks Christy…

'Always illegal': World Rugby successful in appeal as Owen Farrell banned for start of World Cup

Came here to say the same thing mate.

Not so much the Emus, who really are Geese (wanted to say Gooses).

4 Weeks is a bit soft for a repeat offender this far out from France.

Talk about a limp statement…

'Always illegal': World Rugby successful in appeal as Owen Farrell banned for start of World Cup

Surely Ntamack will be missed by Les Bleu; I know they’re playing it down but his combination with du Pont is pretty handy. I guess we’ll see the mercurial 9 playing more of that additional pivot role…

This World Cup is exciting given the obvious improvement in teams like Georgia and Fiji along with the elite nations never being closer.

Depth is always an issue, and will be this time too but my main fear relates to varying officiators and the role their decisions or interpretations can have, especially as the tournament heads to the knock-out stages. This has been amplified by a clearly broken judiciary.

Anyway, 2 weeks from GO-TIME!

RWC News: Injured star's shock France call up, Rebels' ex-Wallaby wins Namibia place, bunker passes review

Discipline and set-piece has always been an issue for the mighty Fijians, especially as the clock winds down.

If they can negate that, and the author suggests they might, they will be a very real threat to emerge from that pool at the expense of Wales or even Australia.

Like Cheetah I’m surprised by the “fallible” comment for the Springboks. Tight 5 is just awesome (Marx and the bomb squad are starting in Twickers). Back row is one of the best in the game and they have scoring threats all over the park. They may have lost to a rampant All Black start but owned large parts of the middle of that game. Add in a game-plan that suits knock-out rugby and they are a genuine contender for Bill…

The monster lurking in Pool C for the Wallabies

The reaction from James is hilarious. It lays bare his attitude. Protectionism and last century thinking. He’s from a larger island where an uneducated few have a mindset of superiority which he illustrates perfectly. Poor old Steve isn’t like that as he downplays his role and avoids excuses. I’m embarrassed for James…

'Cancel his citizenship!' PM weighs in, ABs 'gobsmacked', as Hansen explains why he's helping Wallabies

This appears to have been edited and the title escalated since I 1st saw the article.

Henry helped the Pumas when Steve was All Black coach. Now it’s Cheika at the reins. Eddie coached England and had a former All Black coach on his team. Jake and SA had Eddie on their Team in a World Cup year. Farrell, Schmidt, Plumtree, Cotter, Gatland… it’s a big list…

Rugby DNA and IP are shared a lot more frequently in the modern game and it has seen the elite Test sides closer as those below them improve significantly too. This edition of the RWC could be the closest ever and it’s great for the game.

Shag is helping out for a few days. So what. If the Wallabies benefit from that involvement, surely that’s a good thing for them and the game…

'Cancel his citizenship!' PM weighs in, ABs 'gobsmacked', as Hansen explains why he's helping Wallabies

Good comment.

He has some skill alright. The difference I see, between him and Handre, is the running of the cutter and kicking, at this stage.

He has struggled under the pump; I’d still prefer Pollard, if he can get fit…

Kiwi View: All Blacks fans finally tuning in to RWC threats - should they pay more attention to a dark horse in blue?

What about you though, James?

Owen “red-mist” Farrell better behave himself in France.

Reckon plenty of opponents will rark him up too.

Upgraded by a bunker and then dismissed by the judiciary is a poor outcome for rugby on the eve of Bill’s big dance, no matter how you skin it…

'Mockery', 'broken game', 'laughing stock': Rugby rages as red card reversal clears Owen Farrell for World Cup

Eddie’s his own chaotic, sometimes brilliant, always cryptic, maelstrom. Really he hopes has has a plan behind this other than the rinse and repeat in 4 years. Buildings and learnings aren’t going to cut it if they are to garner the nation’s fervour.

Surely it falls to McLennan and his cronies to stir up interest amongst more than just their stifling network. Given the turn right off the map, I wonder how much they are liking this. I has to be said though, that they’re being noticed.

Any publicity is good publicity… I think…

Come hell or high water, it’s done though; time to settle in and watch it unfold. “Train-wreck” or “David and Goliath”?

World Cups, unshakeable belief, the Wallabies, and those Waltzing Matildas

My liver disagrees…

They struggled under Ewen and Deans too, Peter.

You can apply your blow-torch there too if you like.

Infrastructure (outside the more elite schools) and sponsored/community pathways are the problem, surely…

“… and don’t call me Shirley.”

The Wrap: Is Eddie Jones playing the role of Keyser Soze or Frank Drebin?

McLennan’s position is untenable. The man can’t even sleep straight. Rennie will be thanking his lucky stars.

Is this charade just MClennan’s & Eddie’s attempt to claim under-dog?

Your comment about Razor: “he will take the reins”, ie, post-France, resonates too. This calamity could have waited a few weeks

Brett’s podcast with Harry and Christy suggests some or most of those jettisoned found out at the squad announcement. What a shambles and given it will end some careers, utterly shameful.

Look, I really hope the young Wallabies bear out Eddie’s shenanigans and reward their fans but I cannot help they will disenfranchise even more of them…

Failure Doc.

Surely you can see that…

Eddie has done what was needed four years ago and ripped the bandaid off. Now he's breathed life into Aussie rugby

For the coach/es not to let Quade and Hooper and others prior to the announcement is just poor. Those 2, in particular, have been stalwarts for Australia through some difficulty and is really disrespectful.

Samu, Cooper, Hooper, Lonergan, Ikitau… WOW!

Looking sharp Harry…

Really Christy?

This rings about as true as the idea espoused by some here that Rennie’s coaching was responsible for all the injuries the Wallabies suffered…

With the additional risk of the premature termination of young Wallaby careers…

Couldn’t agree more Hika; still think the jettisoning of so much IP in such an brutal manner was foolish…

You may have a point on theorem, Christie, but like the some of commentators here I disagree, at least as far as this tournament is concerned.

These young guys will be learning combinations as they attempt to get out of their pool, and at least a couple of those game will be difficult. If they make it to the Quarters, and that’s a huge if now, the real pressure will come on; knock-out football. By then there could be injuries as well.

The lack of depth at pivot could be a real concern; think the All Blacks in 2011. Having a kicker when the scoreboard is tight is an asset for a start.

I just don’t get Vunivalu, learning his trade in France; diabolical on defense, his edge will be a premium target.

The back row can operate but not having Samu backing up, or injecting work-rate from the pine, mystifies me still.

I don’t know some of these lads as well as you and your readers and can only hope they shine for Australia but if they fail, will RA stick with them like your article is suggesting? Will Jones still be around?

Surely the broom could have waited till after France?
