Haven’t seen you guys ball tamper against any of those teams. 😊
Sorry couldn’t resist.

Why South Africa and Australia are a match made in sporting heaven

and PS if you thought that was a boring test match …

Why South Africa and Australia are a match made in sporting heaven

I make the point later, but I don’t mean to say that we don’t have other great rivals, but I do think we should celebrate ours a bit more than we do.

ok

Why South Africa and Australia are a match made in sporting heaven

I wasn’t suggesting their aren’t OTHER great rivalries. I just think we should celebrate South Africa and Australia’s more than we do.

Why South Africa and Australia are a match made in sporting heaven

I don’t think enough is made of our rivalry.

Why South Africa and Australia are a match made in sporting heaven

Yes. I only recently found the site. I’m glad they have! LOL.

We should all thank Rassie

I am actively promoting open criticism and constant challenging of refereeing inconsistency to the point where we don’t see in now 2 consecutive Lions series, 2 tip tackles that didn’t get punished. Silence and your imaginary line does nothing and it never will.
I honestly haven’t seen a tip tackle not receive a yellow in years. Why did it happen now? PSDT AND BOD out of their respective series. And to this day not a public comment by the IRB.

I hate that precedent. It’s ruining this and other sports. Tell me why we should even care about some imaginary line that we seem to have.

Well the Taigh Furlong ruck-folding example really stuck out to me. Berry had said this was an area he intended to referee very harshly, to the point where the Bok coaches needed to change specific ruck tactics they had and could not perform anymore.
He then didn’t blow it up once and we watched Taigh do it all game. How can you call that rubbish?

We should all thank Rassie

Refereeing inconsistency is my concern. Not mistakes. At face value it was Rassie’s concern too.

We should all thank Rassie

I only wrote it now. Sorry about that.

We should all thank Rassie

Would you like to post examples of O’Keefes inconsistencies and mistakes? That may change my mind.

We should all thank Rassie

I think he directly addressed his primary concern and the tactical outcomes of timing and delivery were secondary.

First comment I’ve read that got my argument. Thank you.

I should have added that I’m just as thankful for Sir Clive’s presentation, Cheika’s rants, the BOD tackle debacle. Honestly, the list of examples is endless.
What I am arguing, is that we shouldn’t be upset about it and we should applaud it. This is a constant and unending frustration for the sport and the IRB just lols at us.

Well if you think I’m talking about actual bias rather than perceived bias you completely missed the point.

We should all thank Rassie

Precisely. And that leads to perceived bias. Which results in hour long video diatribes and all sorts of other drama. Maybe it’s time to move beyond that.

We should all thank Rassie

Well a week later we got a super consistent, super clear ref. I have no doubt whatsoever that Rassie knew this would be tactically a great way to get his team back into the series. But he didn’t say that, so we can’t assume it.

We should all thank Rassie

Absolutely. Hope you guys felt provoked XD 😊

We should all thank Rassie

The way is consistency of application to both teams.

We should all thank Rassie

That is a very disparaging comment.

We should all thank Rassie

LOL. The bible seems way more consistent to me than the rules and application of those rules in a game of rugby.

We should all thank Rassie

Exactly. The issue is perceived bias. I’m certainly not accusing Berry of bias. I am certainly accusing Berry of inconsistency that resulted in backlash and accusations of bias. It is that outcome that plagues rugby, not actual bias. And it happens all the time, every series, every match and it kinda sucks.
