As long as they keep Watson away from the weights room it might work, Watson is the best example I ever saw in how not to go about building fitness for Cricket. Looking great in a mirror will not make you a better cricketer.

Beleaguered Blues bring back legends to turn fortunes around after worst season in 84 years

Unfortunately this report has turned out to be only 11 days premature. Streak passed away on Sunday 3 Sep of the above mentioned condition.
😔

'Very much alive', 'great use of DRS': Cricket legend's ex-teammate announced his death - before awkward back flip

20 ODI wkts @45.00 with an ER of 5.27, your definition of outstanding is somewhat different to mine. Stoinis comment is not mine. I play favourires 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂

Spinner's stunning debut, Marsh magic lead Aussies to crushing win over South Africa

5.27 rpo v Zampa 5.42 rpo in ODI, a 0.15 pt better rpo, played 21 ODIs in 7 years, what is holding him back then? Despite Agar being a far better batsman and fielder, Zampa has played 4 times the number of ODIs.

Spinner's stunning debut, Marsh magic lead Aussies to crushing win over South Africa

The biggest thing holding Agar back is, he doesn’t take wkts, and that is in all forms of the game. A bit tough on Sangha, day after he gets off the plane and was not even supposed to play this match. This is why I never judge a player on one performance, but on consistency over an extended period.

Spinner's stunning debut, Marsh magic lead Aussies to crushing win over South Africa

Why does everyone want to kick the guy who has 15W@9.11 with a SR of 6.30 in 7 matches out of the T20 team?

Not convinced this is a good idea at this time, Labuschagne at 3 is a strength for the Australian side at present, moving Green there is a risk at this stage and Green for all his talent, seems to be unsure of his game right now, seems to lack a plan on how to play at Test level, personally I see Green as a great number 4 down the track.

Spinner's stunning debut, Marsh magic lead Aussies to crushing win over South Africa

Test Cricket is full of very talented players who never quite made it. Marsh for all his talent is still a Test failure at this stage of his career, 2 good tests and then when he really could have nailed his test spot in the 5th Ashes Test, a double failure. Green is probably the most talented young Cricketer I have seen but that hasn’t transferred that to consistency, he has a decent record for an allrounder but he is nowhere near what he is capable of yet. Richardson is another great talent, but so where Bruce Reid and James Pattinson, but injury curtailed their careers and Richardson is struggling to stay on the pitch, 24 FC games in 6 years.

They have to prove they can perform at Test level on a consistent basis and not a single current WA player has, and only Marsh has proven at ODI level. Great at winning state titles but they are not transferring that form to the next level up.

Now that is what you call a flogging, Marsh 92*(49) on captaincy debut and Tanveer Sangha 4/31 after arriving in SA the day before and a last-minute replacement for the ill Adam Zampa for this match. Can’t wait to see how good he is without jet lag and got some experience playing against men.

Australia’s new T20 team must lead to change in selectors' mindset to favour youth over past performance

Personally, for all I care, Refs and Umps can all be 5 armed, 2 headed Aliens from Mars as long as they are getting the decisions right. Congrats on your promotions Refs.

NRL News: Sharpe and Badger appointed in NRL first, Agent brands NRL 'racist game' over Latrell text, Tohu in finals doubt

No I am not, unlike every Western Australian I have ever met, “single state protective” and automatically assumes everyone else is. I am single Nation protective who unlike so many others, doesn’t care where Australian players come from. I don’t care if an Australian team has 5 WA players in it and none from NSW as long as it is the best Australian 11. Never yet met any WA person who would accept the opposite.
I will accept that maybe I should not have written that post but it had nothing to do with being a NSW supporter nor an attack on WA Cricket, it was in support of the Author who took the trouble of doing the research and writing the article in the first place.

Can Greg turn the ship around? NSW 2023-24 squad preview

Awesome start for the Aus A boys in the first 4 dayer at AB Field, NZ 7/87(30.4ov), Jordan Buckingham continuing his meteoric rise with 3/7 off 7 overs, Steketee has 2/19.
AUS A side for this match
Bancroft, Ward, Jewell, McSweeney(c), Kellaway, Pierson, Paris, Perry, Steketee, Swepson, Buckingham. One interesting player in the Kiwi side is Ajaz Patel who become only the 3rd bowler to take all 10 wkts in a Test innings a couple of years ago. Not a particularly great NZ side on paper at least, all but one over 28. Like that Australian side, good mix of players knocking on the door and talented youngsters.

Australia A squad announced: Bancroft, Marnus get chance to press selection claims after snubs

How is this for an 11 made up of NSW expats.
1/Khawaja
2/Hunt
3/Ward
4/Maddinson
5/Silk
6/Doran
7/Manenti
8/McAndrew
9/Sandhu
10/Stobo
11/Ellis
That would make a pretty competitive Shield team, especially if Hunt and Maddinson could re-find their best form.

Can Greg turn the ship around? NSW 2023-24 squad preview

I don’t think I have ever seen NSW cricket as weak as it is right now, and that is not good for Australian cricket. No one in the NSW squad is really knocking on the door of Australian selection right now, outside of the big 6.

How about writing your own article about the WA squad instead of hijacking this one. James has gone to all the trouble of doing this article, lets keep the discussion about the NSW squad and when someone gets around to doing the WA squad then we can discuss it.

Well it was a massive improvement on 2019. 😂

'Well and truly warrants it': Why legend's backing Warner over Marsh for ODI opening role

Funny thing about that, no one gave Australia any sort of chance in 1987 either. Same favourites, except throw in the Windies as well. What the IPL has done, is everyone is now far more experienced in India. They are taking 18 players to SA but not including Smith and Starc, so there are opportunities before the final 15 is announced. But I do think my 11+Haxlewood will be in the squad, +the other 7 to fight out the other 3 spots, Though Labuschagne and Johnson would be the longest shots as they were not in the original 18. The way I see it, it is Abbott, Hardie, Stoinis for 2 spots, Ellis, Inglis, Labuschagne, Johnson or Sangha for the 15th spot.

'Vitally important': Gilly urges Aussies to give Warner another chance to find form at top of the order

Yea not arguing about the batting order, at 1/150 off 30 overs, would be a good time to send Maxwell in, to face the 2nd ball of the innings, Smith might be the better choice.

'Vitally important': Gilly urges Aussies to give Warner another chance to find form at top of the order

Smith v Marsh, not really an issue either way for me. Probably have Cummins in the side, because I think he will be captain but either way it is still a very good team. Carey has done nothing wrong as ODI keeper, 60 matches under his belt averaging a very respectable 35 with a decent SR of 88, I think he definitely deserves to keep his spot and being a L/H is a plus.

'Vitally important': Gilly urges Aussies to give Warner another chance to find form at top of the order

Can we please stop using Warner’s Test form as a reason for not picking him in White Ball Cricket. It is obvious that as he is getting older, he is not picking up the red ball as quick as he used to, but does not have the same issue with the White ball. Picking on form? last IPL he scored 516 runs@36.85, SR 131.63, amongst Australians only Green had better figures. My best 11 for the WC.
1/Warner
2/Head
3/Marsh (c)
4/Smith
5/Green
6/Carey
7/Maxwell
8/Agar
9/Cummins
10/Starc
11/Zampa
That is a good team, bats all the way to no10, has 7 genuine bowlers, great fielding team, has played a lot of cricket in India, I like our chances of going all the way.

'Vitally important': Gilly urges Aussies to give Warner another chance to find form at top of the order

If we are going to start regarding 378 runs@29.07 by a top 6 batsman playing for the number 1 Shield side as being a successful summer then God help Australian Cricket and only 4 others batted more often for WA last summer. Hardie had a successful Marsh cup last year? 89 runs @19.66, 4 wkts @34.75 😂 😂 😂 😂 . Also I have a very low opinion of most so called Press “experts” from all parts of Australia and stopped reading Newspapers 10 years ago.

I rate Teague Wyllie very highly as a promising young batsman but after a great start, he ended up having a mediocre season, hasn’t proven anything yet. What has Kellaway done so far? Very little, lets start seeing some big runs from both before we start calling them the next Ricky Ponting. You want to call the likes of J Sangha, Doran, and Edwards overrated, fine, but until the WA boys start scoring big runs consistently you just look silly.

None of the obvious contenders to replace Dave Warner stand out. So why not try a left field solution?

I would have no problem whatsoever if the Selectors decided to drop Warner from the 1st Test against Pakistan, most great players deserve the chance to go out on their own terms, Warner does not, he lost that privilege in Mar 2018. He has no credits left and is now living on the Selectors good will. Most players would have realised by now, it’s time to pull the pin and retire.

How to confuse Glenn Maxwell in one easy lesson, show him a red Cricket ball 😂 , 3 shield matches in the last 4 seasons.

None of the obvious contenders to replace Dave Warner stand out. So why not try a left field solution?

They will all have 6 shield matches (no injuries) to put forward their case as will others, I really hope Wil Pucovski will put pressure on them as well. Ward, Hunt, Street and Whiteman all went backwards last season. The other issue is, there is a month between the last shield match and the first test against the Windies, it would be better if Warner either retired or was pushed out, but I suspect that is not going to happen. At this stage I would give Bancroft the first go, he hasn’t played since Lords 2019 where Harris and Renshaw have without any success, and he is a Right Hander.
