The Sydney Sixers and Adelaide Strikers will face off for a spot in the Big Bash final tonight. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary of the challenger final from 7:25pm AEDT.
The Sixers finished second on the Big Bash ladder and had a chance to make the grand final already but lost to Perth in the qualifying final.
They have a second chance tonight to get there and will be hoping for a much better batting performance.
Opening batter Josh Philippe has been ruled out of the match with COVID with the Sixers forced to add assistant coach Jay Lenton to the squad.
Philippe’s forced stint on the sidelines is a huge blow as he is usually the key to the Sixers getting a solid foundation for the likes of Moises Henriques to play the anchor role in the middle overs.
The Adelaide Strikers won a thrilling elimination final against the Sydney Thunder by six runs and they had a lot of fun along the way with Harry Conway having Australia in stitches with his David Lloyd ‘Bumble’ impersonations.
They seem to be really enjoying their cricket this season and have a great mix of youth and experience with Peter Siddle captaining the side.
Siddle went for 10 runs an over last game but he took two wickets and he’ll want to lead from the front and show why he was in the team of the tournament.
The Sydney Cricket Ground plays host to this one and the sudden death nature of the contest should make for a lot of tension.
