I think you’ll find that Burgess resigned voluntarily. He was not sacked. His leaving is a statement that the Rabbitohs are a rabble and he wants to distance himself when the coup de grace is delivered in round 27

Great article TB. I can’t understand why it’s the season for Luai bashing and it’s been going on forever. Are these journos just jealous that an Islander kid from St Marys is earning 10 times more than them? I know one thing. Every article just fans the flames higher.

If we’re serious about bringing this 2 year mad dispute, that no-one understands, to an end, get rid of Albo and Newton and bring in Belinda Sharpe and Yvonne Sampson. All parties pledge to abide by their decision. Dispute over in 10 minutes.

Think back to day 1 of the series and England’s arrogant declaration. Had they batted on and got a decent lead they may have won or drawn the first test, and then rain at Old Trafford would not have mattered. Pure arrogance. Then at Lords, the way all and sundry carried on with the Bairstow (fair) dismissal, they could have been a little bit humble and admit they got it wrong. But No. They chose the moral high ground. Pure arrogance. What goes around, comes around. Another Ashes series win Australia.

Walsh might have had a good moment or two however Kevvie hasn’t got the message to him to keep his mouth shut. Just about every time the ref ruled against Brisbane, referee Walsh had to have his two cents worth. Does Kevvie have to tape Walshe’s moth shut?

It all depends on the bowler’s position and arm movement during the delivery. The natural position from around the wicket forces the ball towards the leg side for RH bowlers/LH batters. The bigger challenge is not to run on the protected area post delivery. I can see that bowlers would need many months of practice if they want to change from over to around the wicket, especially if they want to attack off stump and provide an edge behind, as Broad is to Warner

Qld had no spark in the first half. Billy must have given them a rocket in the sheds. They tried in the 2nd half but NSW had their tails up and stood firm, winning both halves. Glad it’s all over and we can enjoy the rest of a disjointed year.

The rules of cricket state that the keeper must dispose of the ball immediately, which Carey did, but Bairstow did not – because he was mulling an illegal and dishonest act. Shame Bairstow, Shame.

It’s immaterial whether either one got an advantage. Kids are taught this rule of cricket from age 7. Stay in your crease or cop the consequences

Bairstow was NOT given out on a technicality and he DID contravene the Rules of Cricket even though he was not trying to gain an advantage – which is irrelevant anyway. What I can’t stand is the hypocrisy of England, Bairstow, Broad, Stokes and McCallum, who all have a track record of dubious actions on the field. 2 days earlier Bairstow tried to stump Marnus in exactly the same way. Stokes rorted New Zealand with the Grandhomme dismissal last year and McCallum has a charge sheet as long as your arm, including Sri Lanka, and even minnows Zimbabwe; not to mention Broad refusing to walk when ne was caught at 1st slip.
Can’t wait for Headingly and the Aussies grinding the whingeing Poms into extinction.

COMMENT: Cummins failed the moral test and tarnished these Ashes. He had the chance to be a legend and blew it

What a crap article, Ben and Brad…… England, Bairstowe, Stokes and McCallum should hang their hypocritical heads in shame…… IF – Bairstowe had not attempted to do the same to Marnus two days earlier, IF – McCallum did not have such a hypocritical track record on numerous occasions – THEN Pat Cummins may have called Bairstowe back or even apologised. However in view of the hypocrisy no such decisions are either deserved or required. I hope the Aussies double down at Headingly and crush the Poms into extinction. They’re pretty close to extinction anyway.

Doubts around the Poms honesty. Using Bairstow’s legal dismissal as the reason/excuse they lost. Baistow tries the same thing multiple times when he’s keeping. Maybe it felt like they won. Have a look at the scorebook.

Wasn’t Billy Slater dropped to reserve grade by Craig Bellamy in order to get his attitude right? Where is Walsh’s apology to the fans and the ref?

If the NRL are serious about protecting refs, they should have thrown the book at Reece Walsh
